Jane Fonda endorses Karen Bass in Los Angeles mayoral race
oscar-winning actress and activist Jane fonda has endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for reelection, citing Bass’s leadership on issues ranging from civil and women’s rights to climate. Bass praised Fonda’s longstanding activism and said Angelenos need leaders willing to speak out amid what she described as growing attacks on the city and immigrant communities from Donald Trump and his allies.
Bass has also received endorsements from California Gov. Gavin Newsom and actor Samuel L. Jackson. The mayoral race includes challengers city councilwoman nithya raman and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, and the primary is set for Tuesday, June 2, with the top two candidates moving on to the November general election.
Oscar-winning actress and progressive activist Jane Fonda announced she’s backing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in the city’s mayoral race.
Fonda announced her endorsement to TheWrap, to which Bass responded: “Jane Fonda has spent her life on the front lines — from civil rights to women’s rights to the fight for our climate — and I’m deeply honored to have her support.”

“At a time when Donald Trump is attacking our city, our immigrant neighbors, and the freedoms generations of women fought to win, Angelenos need leaders willing to stand up and speak out,” Bass continued. “Jane has never been afraid to do either, and I’m proud to have her in this fight with us.”
Bass has also been endorsed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and actor Samuel L. Jackson.
SPENCER PRATT FILES COMPLAINT AGAINST KAREN BASS
Bass is facing city councilwoman Nithya Raman and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt to become the next Los Angeles mayor.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, with the top two candidates advancing to November’s general election.
