Jada Pinkett Smith Breaks Silence On Will Smith’s Oscars Slap, Hopes Husband And Chris Rock Will Have An ‘Opportunity To Heal’

Jada Pinkett Smith has finally broken her silence on husband Will Smith’s Oscars slap of comedian Chris Rock, sharing how she hopes these two can “talk this out and reconcile.”

During the 50-year-old actress‘ Facebook “Red Table Talk” show on Wednesday, she talked about her ongoing hair loss battle and what she said she’s “been through with my own health.” She also mentioned what happened at the 94th Academy Awards after her husband marched on stage and slapped Rock in the face after he cracked a joke about Jada’s shaved bald head.

The “Girls Trip” star explained at the start of the show how “thousands have reached out to me with their stories. I’m using this moment to give our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it’s like to have this condition and to inform people about what alopecia actually is.”

“Now about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile,” she added. “The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

It was the first time the actress has commented on the incident since sharing a statement in April promising to address the altercation at some point.

“Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focused on deep healing,” the message said. “Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls.”

Following Smith’s actions at the Oscars, the “King Richard” star apologized to Rock and conceded that he’d been “out of line” and “wrong.” Shortly after the apology, Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences amid disciplinary proceedings over his behavior.

The Academy later shared that Smith was banned from attending the annual awards show for ten years for slapping Rock, as previously reported by The Daily Wire.
