‘It’s Parental Negligence’: Twitter Reacts To Kim Kardashian And Kanye West’s Squabble Over 8-Year-Old North Using TikTiok

The ongoing divorce drama between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian is very much like a train wreck you can’t look away from. This celeb couple isn’t helping matters by constantly making disparaging statements against each other in a very public way. The latest of these had to do with Ye speaking up about his 8-year-old daughter, North, being on TikTok without his permission.

The “Donda” singer shared a screenshot of one of North’s TikTok videos via Instagram and said, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL?”

Kardashian replied with an Instagram story of her own, slamming West for making their private conversation part of a public debate.

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” the SKIMS founder wrote in part.

“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”

Twitter quickly took sides on the issue, with many conservatives taking West’s side and questioning why such a young child was being exposed to social media.

“Kanye is right,” Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh tweeted in response to the story. “It’s parental negligence to allow young children to have social media accounts. Literally nothing good can possibly come of it. Only bad. It’s just a matter of how bad.”

“He’s trying to protect his 8-year-old daughter’s innocence and privacy,” Jesse Lee Peterson wrote.

“Kanye is obviously correct. Absolutely no reason for an 8 year old to be allowed on TikTok,” podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey agreed

“Honestly if my 8yo daughter was on TikTok, I’d probably react WAYYYY louder than Kanye,” Liz Wheeler shared.

The TikTok video that sparked the debate is seven seconds long and was posted to the @KimandNorth account earlier in the week. In the clip, North and Kardashian spin around the camera while lip-syncing. This recent video is one of fewer than 70 posted to the account since last November and has more than 10 million views, according to the Los Angeles Times,

Ye’s post slamming North’s involvement on TikTok has 1.5 million likes as of Saturday, which is the same number of likes the original video received.

In her Instagram post, Kardashian said she “wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive coparenting relationship” and that she intended for all future communication to be private. With the way things are going, that may be impossible.

“It is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way,” Kardashian wrote. “I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately and hopefully he can finally respond to the third attorney he has had in the last year to resolve any issues amicably.”
