Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher returned from his summer break with a tribute to late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), calling him the “Trump whisperer.”
“Lindsey was kind of the Trump whisperer. You know, he really was the guy. They, the Senate, they said they’re going to miss him for that,” Maher said on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday.

Maher returned to his show on Friday after taking about a month off for his annual summer break.
“Well, while we were off, only a month, but lots of change in the Republican Party. Lindsey Graham dropped dead, you know this,” Maher said.
Maher also pointed out the rising concern over the health of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who fell in June and has not returned to the Senate since. McConnell released a photo in a press release on July 27, with the photo dated July 26.
“Mitch McConnell also died, but he still wanders the Earth,” Maher said. “But, I kid. But not Lindsey Graham. And look, you say what you want about him, he had a funeral the other day, National Cathedral, world leaders showed up. It is not often a senator gets that kind of a send-off.”
Maher also joked about what he had in common with Graham.
“We both made it to 70 without getting married. We took slightly different pathways, but I’m just saying we both made it to 70.”

Maher said the Senate is going to miss Graham for his relationship with President Donald Trump, amid low poll numbers that indicated, “73% of Americans say Trump has not paid enough attention to the important problems.”
