Rep. Carlos Gimenez criticizes Biden administration’s ‘incompetent’ Iran policy amid Israel war.
Rep. Carlos Gimenez: Biden Administration’s Weakness is Resulting in Global Instability
During an appearance on Mornings with Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) expressed his concerns about the current state of foreign affairs, attributing it to the “weakness” of the Biden administration. Gimenez specifically addressed the conflict between Hamas and Israel, highlighting the need for stronger actions against Iran.
Gimenez acknowledged the administration’s efforts in freezing $6 billion of Iranian funds in a South Korean bank, but emphasized the importance of imposing additional sanctions to prevent any revenue from reaching terrorist organizations. He criticized the lax approach towards sanctions, which has allowed Iran’s oil revenues to skyrocket, directly funding groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
“Yeah, it just shows the incompetency of this particular administration. And it shows the incompetency all the way around,” Gimenez expressed. “The problem is that there has been — we’ve been lax, this administration has been lax on the sanctions, and Iran’s oil revenues have shot, skyrocketed some 70%. That directly funds these kinds of activities: Hamas, Hezbollah. And so we’re seeing the results of weakness, weakness around the world.”
Gimenez further speculated that Iran is funding Hamas, pointing to the recent rocket attacks and infiltration into Israel during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant loss of lives, including 27 U.S. citizens and approximately 150 individuals taken hostage.
“And so, Iran is the cancer of the Middle East. We need to take care of Iran. We can’t coddle Iran. We have to get stronger with Iran,” Gimenez emphasized. “We have to put in place more sanctions against Iran to really cripple them and cripple their economy, because if we let them go, they’re going to continue to fund these terrorist groups. Their sole aim is the destruction of Israel, and we can never, never let that happen.”
Gimenez also highlighted the timing of global conflicts, suggesting that it is “not a coincidence” to witness Hamas attacking Israel and Russia attacking Ukraine during President Biden’s first term in office. As someone who fled Cuba due to the rise of communism, Gimenez brings a unique perspective to the discussion. He currently serves on several committees, including the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China, granting him access to classified information.

Minishing the impact of previous economic restrictions.
Furthermore, Gimenez expressed his concerns about the rising global instability as a result of the Biden administration’s weakness in dealing with foreign affairs. He argued that the lack of a strong stance against Iran has emboldened terrorist organizations like Hamas to act with impunity. The recent conflict between Hamas and Israel, in which thousands of rockets were fired at Israeli civilians, is a direct result of the administration’s failure to take decisive action against Iran.
Gimenez emphasized the need for stronger actions against Iran, citing its support for terrorist organizations and its pursuit of nuclear weapons as major threats to global security. He called for the Biden administration to reimpose sanctions on Iran and work towards a comprehensive agreement that addresses Iran’s nuclear ambitions and sponsorship of terrorism.
The congressman also criticized the administration’s approach to other global issues, such as China’s aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. He argued that the lack of a strong response to China’s military activities and human rights abuses sends a message of weakness to other nations, leading to increased instability.
Gimenez concluded by urging the Biden administration to reassess its approach to foreign affairs and take a stronger and more decisive stance against threats to global security. He emphasized the importance of standing up to countries like Iran and China and holding them accountable for their actions. Only through strong leadership and decisive action can the United States maintain stability and ensure the safety of its allies.
