Iran will target Israel if US continues strikes, official warns
Iran has issued warnings that it is prepared to involve israel in the ongoing conflict if the United States continues its military strikes following the failure of a recent ceasefire. Iranian officials, including Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, emphasized that any attack on Iranian infrastructure would be met wiht retaliation, and threats against Israeli targets have been voiced. Meanwhile,Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated readiness to attack Iran again with greater force if necessary. The U.S. has conducted retaliatory strikes against Iran after its forces attacked ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump, expressing frustration with negotiations, declared he does not want a deal with Iran and highlighted that Iran has asked to resume talks but he has rejected them, asserting that the ceasefire is over. Additionally, Israel has shared intelligence warning of a heightened risk to Trump’s safety, and he publicly acknowledged being a primary target for Iranian assassination plots. Recent unspecified strikes in Iran’s provinces have been responded to by Iran with attacks on neighboring countries. The situation continues to escalate amid threats and military actions from both sides.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to drag Israel back into the fray if the United States continues its strikes following the collapse of the latest ill-fated ceasefire.
Secretary of the Supreme National Council Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr made the warning via state media on Friday after President Donald Trump repeatedly stated the memorandum of understanding with Tehran was violated by Iranian attacks.

“As we have already announced, any attack on infrastructure will be retaliated against, and the criminal Zionist regime responsible for these atrocities will not be spared from the response of our fighters,” Zolghadr said.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Thursday that his country is ready to attack Iran for a third time if necessary, and “with even greater force.”
“The army is ready and on alert for a resumption of fighting, in order to regain air superiority and strike again … in Iran, to eliminate threats, including a third time if necessary. If we have to go back, we will go back, with even greater force,” Katz said.
U.S. Central Command announced Tuesday that Tehran had attacked approximately three commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military launched a series of retaliatory strikes against targets in Iran.
The disruption finally seemed to exhaust Trump’s patience with the negotiators in Tehran, and he declared on Wednesday that he doesn’t want a deal and it’s a “waste of time dealing with them.”
The president reaffirmed this stance on Friday when he issued a message via Truth Social: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!”
Israel reportedly shared intelligence with the White House this week outlining a heightened risk for the president’s assassination. U.S. officials told reporters that the threat assessments provided by the Israelis did not include specific plots.
Trump seemed to have the threat of assassination on his mind Thursday when he spoke at length about the number of Iranian leaders he has killed and how he is aware that he might suffer the same fate.
“Their leaders are gone. They had leaders, they’re gone. Then they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders — they may be gone, who knows?” Trump said from the stage toward the end of the summit. “And you know what, I may be gone too. Because I’m their No. 1 target — it’s out all over the place. Because they’re scum. That’s the way they act, and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years.
“I’m No. 1 on the kill list for Iran. They’re lovely people, I’m No. 1,” he said later in the speech. “I like being No. 1 on TikTok, but I’m No. 1 on the list for killing.”
On Thursday, following the latest round of U.S. attacks on Iran, multiple strikes hit the Bushehr and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces that were not claimed by the U.S. or Israeli military.
It remains unclear what country is responsible for those strikes, but the Iranian military responded with strikes into Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Qatar.
