Iran has responded to latest US peace proposal, state media says
Iran reportedly delivered its response too a U.S.-proposed peace deal through Pakistan,which has served as teh intermediary. Iran’s state media did not detail what the response contained, only that the proposal was intended to end the war.
After the reports surfaced, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social accusing Iran of “playing games” with the United States and the world for decades, and warned that if Iran does not sign an agreement quickly, a major escalation could follow.
The negotiations have largely remained closed-door and largely handled via pakistan. Trump has also linked the situation to his “Project Freedom” plan for U.S.Navy escorting in the Strait of Hormuz-saying he paused it in favor of the peace effort, but would restart it (expanded as “Project freedom Plus”) if Iran does not reach a deal.
Iran gave its response to the U.S.-proposed peace deal on Sunday, according to Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency.
The state media agency reported that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Iran gave its response to his country, which has acted as the intermediary in the negotiations. The outlet did not specify what Iran’s response was, but said the proposal was based on ending the war.

After the reports broke of the Iranian response, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that “Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years,” discussing the regime’s diplomacy with former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
“For 47 years the Iranians have been ‘tapping’ us along, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country. They will be laughing no longer!” Trump wrote.
The Washington Examiner has reached out to the White House for comment on the reports of the Iranian response.
The past week has been contentious in the Middle East after Iran attacked U.S. Naval ships in the Strait of Hormuz and fired missiles at the United Arab Emirates. Later in the week, the U.S. struck two Iranian oil tankers on Friday as the two countries each block the waterway.
Trump said on Thursday that the over-a-month-old ceasefire remains in place but that with the attack on U.S. ships, the regime “trifled” with the U.S.
“If there’s no ceasefire, you’re not going to have to know. You’re just going to have to look at one big glow coming out of Iran, and they better sign their agreement fast,” Trump warned on Thursday.

The closed-door peace negotiations have remained largely private in the hands of Pakistan’s intermediaries. After pausing Project Freedom, Trump’s plan to use U.S. Navy vessels to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, at the request of Pakistan in favor of a peace deal, Trump said Friday that he would reinstate the program if Iran does not agree to a deal.
“We’ll go a different route if everything doesn’t get signed up, buttoned up,” Trump said. “We may go back to Project Freedom if things don’t happen, but it’ll be Project Freedom Plus, meaning Project Freedom plus other things.”
