Iowa gubernatorial debate dominated by attack on Republican’s residency
An Iowa gubernatorial debate took place in Davenport,Iowa,between Democratic candidate Rob Sand,the current Iowa auditor,and Republican candidate zach Lahn,a regenerative farmer. During the debate,Sand criticized Lahn multiple times over his residency,accusing him of not being a full-time Iowa resident despite his campaign for the 2026 election. The debate occurred at st. Ambrose University about a week before early voting began on October 14.
DAVENPORT, Iowa — Iowa Democratic candidate Rob Sand attacked Republican Zach Lahn multiple times regarding his residency, alleging during the gubernatorial debate that Lahn is not a full-time Iowa resident despite seeking the governorship in the 2026 elections next month.
The first debate between Sand, the current Iowa auditor, and Lahn, a regenerative farmer, was held at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, roughly a week before early voting begins on Oct. 14.
