Investigation Reveals ‘Revolving Door’ of DOJ, Big Tech Employees

A new report has described the extent to which former Justice Department ( DOJ ) employees are now working at Big Tech firms in the midst of an ongoing lawsuit against the Biden administration alleging collaboration with social media companies to censor Americans.

More than 360 current Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook / Meta employees were former DOJ employees, according to an investigation by the American Accountability Foundation( AAF ) into the resumes of recent hires. Additionally, more than 40 DOJ individuals — many of them in top positions— had hitherto held positions with major corporations.

According to the article, since President Joe Biden took office, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta have all hired 40 former DOJ employees, while Amazon has hired 61.

While employees frequently switch between the public and private sectors, Yitz Friedman, the AAF Communications Manager, explained to The Epoch Times that” this case is unique because, in contrast to government and industry moving experience back and forth( knowledge about procurement rules, for example ), what we have seen moving between DOJ and technology is a shared social agenda, mainly to silence conservative tones.” ” Unfortunately, it is proof that business plan is the government legislation in the Big Tech place.”

Current evidence of cooperation between the DOJ and Twitter to solitude Americans, especially regarding political discourse, has increased this issue.

Elon Musk released hundreds of internal emails after purchasing the social media platform Twitter, including a report by The New York Post that supposedly implicated then-candidate Joe Biden in illegal payments scandals. These emails purportedly showed collaboration between Twitter and DOJ officials to censor conversation.

” Campaign of Public Threats”

The” Twitter docs” were made public in response to a lawsuit brought by former Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana attorney general Jeff Landry alleging improper cooperation between the Biden administration and Big Tech firms to restrict free speech.

Because of the First Amendment, Landry claimed in an interview with The Epoch Times in November 2022 that” the government cannot censor speech, certainly democratic speech.” Therefore, they are unable to go out and compel these businesses to comply.

Plaintiffs in this case filed a 364-page” seeking of truth” record titled” Campaign of Public Threats Against Social Media Platforms to Difficulty them to delete more speech on public media.” On March 30, a Parliamentary hearing on the” Weaponization of the Federal Government” may feature discussion of this information.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the Attorney General assert that there is some sort of opportunity to the tips we are looking for, according to Landry.” The DOJ is doing everything they can to sketch, finger, and fight to prevent us from getting any of this information ,” he said. There is no opportunity for violating an American’s First Amendment freedom, I may remind the U.S. Attorney General.

The” law of agency ,” which states that the federal government may be held accountable for the actions of private companies if it encourages or forces them to break the law, is a crucial part of this lawsuit. Landry anticipates that the Supreme Court will eventually rule on this condition, which will pave the way for future instances of government-corporate collusion.

The DOJ filed a complaint on January 24 against Google for dominant crimes related to marketing, demonstrating both its purposes to reduce Big-Tech Monopolies and the power the government has over them.

Attorney General Merrick Garland stated in the lawsuit that Google” has used anticompetitive, exclusive, and immoral conduct to eliminate or seriously reduce any threat to its dominance over mobile advertising technologies.”

However, those who are worried about government-tech cooperation find little solace in this, especially when it comes to putting down political rivals.

The rotating door between the Justice Department and Big Tech calls into question the Biden administration’s commitment to put an end to these crimes rather than work with big tech, according to AAF President Tom Jones.

For comments on this document, The Epoch Times contacted the DOJ, Meta, Google, and Amazon. By newspaper time, they had not responded.
