Veterans increasingly frustrated as LBGT events overshadow military holidays.

Backlash Grows Over LGBT Flags at Veterans’ Memorials

There is a growing backlash against what many perceive as national LGBT observances overshadowing the honoring of America’s veterans.

While Pride Month has traditionally followed Memorial Day, this year has seen a significant movement, led by the government, to replace American flags with LGBT flags at military installations, including Veterans Affairs facilities and cemeteries.

Memorial Day is a solemn occasion to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in military service. It is meant to be a somber remembrance of their loss and a celebration of their bravery.

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Victor Marx, who served on the front lines against ISIS, believes that the state, starting with the Biden administration, is attempting to turn LGBTQ+ into a religious cult. He sees the replacement of the symbol of America with a Pride flag as a disrespectful gesture towards veterans and their families.

Terrence Hayes, press secretary for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, defends the flying of LGBT flags, stating that it symbolizes the VA’s commitment to inclusion and pays tribute to LGBTQ+ veterans and their families.

Grooming of America

Carl Boyanton, who has family members who served in World War II, has been involved in honoring veterans in Mississippi for years. He believes that the infiltration of the military with LGBT flags and observances is part of an effort to groom America to accept what he sees as the “growing debauchery” of a movement unrelated to patriotism. Boyanton points to activities during Pride Month that he considers inappropriate for family-friendly events.

Marx and other veterans interviewed by The Epoch Times believe that the gay community has been taken over by a radical movement that no longer represents the original goals of gay rights.

Outrage over the increasing number of LGBT commemorations has spread to the liberal East Coast, with Boston conservative talk radio host Jeff Kuhner receiving calls from listeners expressing their anger.

Some veterans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the proximity of Pride Month to Memorial Day, feeling that the focus on LGBT issues detracts from the solemnity of the occasion.

It is important to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by veterans, while also promoting inclusivity and equality for all members of society.
