Democrat Representative denies knowledge of Mike Johnson, asserts Trump as true GOP speaker
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) Slams House Republicans for Impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
In a fiery response to Tuesday evening’s vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) did not hold back in criticizing House Republicans. He boldly stated that this move was clear evidence of former President Donald Trump’s influence over their actions.
“I don’t know who Mike Johnson is. It’s clear Donald Trump is Speaker of the House,” Moskowitz passionately expressed during an interview with Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” He firmly believed that Mayorkas’ impeachment would never gain traction, adding, “The only thing that’s going to change is his Wikipedia page.”
Moskowitz didn’t stop there. He also took aim at his Republican colleagues for their opposition to the foreign aid package recently passed in the Senate. He accused them of obstructing both the aid package and the immigration deal that was recently scrapped, all in an effort to deny President Biden any potential victories. Moskowitz attributed this behavior to House Republicans dutifully carrying out Trump’s agenda.
“[Trump] wants to change how the United States is viewed around the world,” Moskowitz continued. “The fact that he wants to regain office and establish better relationships with China and Russia, who are actively destabilizing the world, should send shivers down every American’s spine. While he talks about Joe Biden starting World War II – which, by the way, happened in the ’40s – Donald Trump is the one discussing potential conflicts with Russia that could ignite World War III if they were to invade Europe. He is setting the stage for such a catastrophic event.”
It appears that Moskowitz was referencing Trump’s recent comments about NATO, where he expressed his opposition to providing support to member nations that were not fulfilling their financial obligations to the organization.
“When I told the 20 countries that weren’t paying their fair share that they had to PAY UP, and said without doing that you will not have U.S. Military Protection, the money came rolling in,” Trump stated. “After years of the United States shouldering the burden, it was a beautiful sight to see. But now, without me there to demand payment, they are reverting back. We are providing more than $100 billion in assistance to Ukraine, exceeding our contributions to NATO. They disrespect us by insisting on paying far less. This is wrong. NATO must be equalized, and it needs to happen now. They will comply if properly asked.”
