Man’s Pregnant Wife Shoots Attacker in Parking Garage

A man is speaking out after his pregnant wife gunned down the man who attacked their family inside a parking garage.

Family Attacked While Celebrating Daughter’s Birthday

The attack occurred Monday while the out-of-town family was visiting Little Rock, Arkansas, to celebrate their daughter’s seventh birthday, the father, whose identity has not been released, said. They were planning on visiting a water park and the zoo.

Assailant Attacks Family in Parking Garage

In the River Market garage, the man, his wife, and their two children were packing their car when someone approached the family and attacked from behind, according to the father. He was struck multiple times and was tackled to the ground by the assailant, identified as 37-year-old Markevious King, the wife told Little Rock police.

Pregnant Wife Shoots Attacker

King then approached the driver’s seat and began striking the pregnant wife in the head. The husband suffered a fractured rib, and his wife has multiple “knots on her forehead where he apparently punched her,” he said. “She feared for her and her family so she drew her pistol and shot toward [King] one time, striking him in the head/neck area,” the police report read.

Grateful for Wife’s Quick Thinking

“A lot of things could have happened,” the husband said. “We never know what he was really planning, or anything … trying to kidnap our girls or just trying to steal the car.” The husband is thankful that his wife carried a gun and said the incident would not scare them away from coming back to the area. “We live in Memphis, and this kind of happens to people out here all the time,” he said. “So, I mean, it’s not something that we’re going to let shine down or shadow down on our lives. We do like to travel.”

Attacker in Critical Condition

King reportedly remains in critical condition.
