His ex-mistress, Lunden Alexa Roberts, is demanding that he reveal who is paying for his high-priced legal team, which includes some of the most expensive attorneys in the country. Roberts argues that this contradicts Biden’s claim that he can’t afford to pay child support.
A Lavish Lifestyle
Roberts’s attorney, Clint Lancaster, wrote in a filing that “for an artist living on meager means, Mr. Biden is living lavishly.” The motion, if approved, could be another political headache for Hunter Biden, who has fought to keep his financial records private during the custody battle with Roberts, the mother of his four-year-old daughter.
A Unique Objection
Biden initially denied that the child was his, but a court-ordered paternity test proved otherwise. He reached a child support settlement with Roberts shortly after his father launched his presidential campaign in 2020. Now, he’s arguing to reduce those payments. In addition, he’s fighting Roberts’s request to change their daughter’s last name to “Biden,” claiming that it would be damaging to the child due to the “scorn in the community for the Biden name.” Family law attorney Peter M. Walzer called this objection “very uncommon” and unlikely to succeed in court.
The Next Hearing
The next hearing is scheduled for Monday, and both Biden and Roberts have been ordered to attend. Their absences have caused delays in the case, and the judge has issued the order after Biden’s attorney was unable to answer whether Biden owned the abandoned laptop that became a subject of controversy during the 2020 election. Financial records discovered on the laptop have become an issue in the custody dispute.
