House Republicans are investigating CIA involvement in the Hunter Biden probe
House Republicans Probe Alleged CIA Interference in Hunter Biden Investigation
House Republicans are demanding answers from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) after a whistleblower came forward with allegations of agency interference to thwart investigations into Hunter Biden.
On Thursday, the GOP chairmen of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees sent CIA Director William Burns a letter seeking records related to claims the CIA acted with the Department of Justice to protect President Joe Biden and his son.
Allegations of Interference
- The whistleblower’s claims suggest the CIA intervened to halt IRS investigators from interviewing an associate of Hunter Biden.
- DOJ officials were allegedly briefed at CIA headquarters, leading to the prevention of the interview.
Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky, the Judiciary and Oversight Committees chairmen, granted Director Burns until April 4 to respond to the congressional inquiry.
In a different investigation, House Republicans probed potential CIA interference in the 2020 election over the Hunter Biden laptop letter, aiming to discredit it as Russian disinformation.
Claims of Political Meddling
- The CIA faces scrutiny for protecting political allies while also being accused of spreading false conspiracies to undermine Republicans.
- Journalists exposed CIA involvement in Russiagate and alleged pressure on allied nations to surveil the Trump campaign.
The FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago was suspected to be an operation to retrieve incriminating material linked to the Russia hoax, implicating former CIA Director Gina Haspel.
