House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) appeared to reverse course, admitting he and President Trump worked very well together.

At a press briefing on Friday, McCarthy, who had previously criticized the President over the January 6 Capitol breach, reminisced about how the two had been able to get a lot done in Congress. He added he did not have a commitment from President Trump to not challenge sitting members of Congress in their primary elections.

“I don’t have a commitment with that,” McCarthy stated. “I worked closely with the President on working on endorsements to win seats in the House and we did quite well.”

McCarthy’s remarks came one day after he appeared to distance himself from Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) over her remarks the President should not be allowed to speak at CPAC. McCarthy maintained the President should be allowed to speak at the event, blasting Cheney for trying to cancel him.
