House Dems expand 2026 map to target eight additional seats
House Democrats,through the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC),are expanding their 2026 “Red to blue” program by adding eight candidate targets in competitive districts. DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene says the new slate reflects strong, community-rooted candidates and aims to capitalize on momentum to win back House control.
The added candidates include a mix of professionals such as a firefighter, deputy sheriff, and a Grammy-winning Tejano musician. Thay are listed across several states-Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Colorado, California, and Maine-with examples including Pennsylvania contests where candidates Bob Harvie and Bob Brooks are positioned to challenge Republican incumbents Brian Fitzpatrick and Ryan Mackenzie, respectively. In texas, the DCCC’s planned matchups include Grammy winner Bobby Pulido in a newly drawn 15th district against Rep. monica De La Cruz, and also Johnny Garcia, a deputy sheriff, in a high-competition primary runoff.
Republicans accuse Democrats of scrambling in response to GOP-created district maps and ongoing gerrymandering efforts, while the DCCC argues Democrats can turn those new boundaries to their advantage.
House Democrats are expanding their 2026 midterm election map, adding eight candidates in competitive districts to their “Red to Blue” program.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Monday unveiled an expanded list of targets as well as its preferred candidates for the seats. The group is backing a diverse group of candidates, including a firefighter, a deputy sheriff, and a Grammy award-winning musician.

“As the American people reject House Republicans’ disastrous, cost-spiking agenda, House Democrats have the momentum to take back the majority,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene. “These latest additions to our Red to Blue program represent the strength of our people-first message and the broad appeal of our top-tier candidates.”
The DCCC’s “Red to Blue” program provides candidates in tight races with additional resources as national Democrats hope to take control of the House in November.
“These candidates will win because they are authentic, independent-minded leaders who are rooted in their communities, demonstrating they have what it takes to win and fight to make life more affordable for hardworking families,” said DelBene.
The expansion includes Democratic candidates across the country: Bobby Pulido in Texas’ 15th District, Johnny Garcia in Texas’ 35th District, Marlene Galan-Woods in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, Bob Harvie in Pennsylvania’s 1st District, Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania’s 7th District, Jessica Killin in Colorado’s 5th District, Jasmeet Bains in California’s 22nd District, and Joe Baldacci in Maine’s 2nd District.
In Pennsylvania, Harvie, the commissioner in Bucks County, is hoping to go toe-to-toe with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), while Brooks, a firefighter, is looking to take on Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA).
The DCCC’s adds in Texas come despite Republicans redrawing its congressional districts in a move that planted a nationwide gerrymandering effort. But now, Democrats are looking to turn the gerrymandering effort in their favor.
Pulido, a Grammy award-winning Tejano artist, would be going head-to-head with Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-TX) in the newly drawn 15th district. The DCCC argues the seat works in Democrats’ favor as “6 in 10 voters in this newly drawn district are new to Monica De La Cruz.”
Garica, a local sheriff’s deputy for Bexar County, is locked in a primary runoff against Democrat Maureen Galindo in what is expected to be one of the most competitive elections in November.

The National Republican Congressional Committee dismissed the additions in a statement on Monday.
“House Democrats and the DCCC are scrambling, and they’re left cleaning up the mess they created. Their disastrous primaries have turned into a far-left free-for-all, and national Democrats stepping in will only deepen the chaos and alienate their far-left base,” NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella said.
