Harry Potter actor Robbie Coltrane dies aged 72

LONDON (Reuters) -Robbie Coltrane, the larger-than-lifestyle Scottish actor who performed Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, on Friday at age 72 died, his agent said.

Coltrane’s a lot more than four-decade-long profession ranged from functions in the James Bond movies “GoldenEye” and “THE PLANET ISN’T Enough”, to the prospect in the 1990s British Television collection “Cracker”, as criminal psychologist Dr. Edward ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald.

Harry Potter writer J.K. Rowling brought the tributes on Twitter, creating: “I’ll never understand anyone remotely like Robbie once again.

“He had been an incredible talent, a whole one off, and I has been beyond fortunate to learn him, use him and laugh my mind off with him. I deliver my like and deepest condolences to his loved ones, most importantly his children.”

Coltrane’s realtor Belinda Wright known as him a “unique skill” and said he previously brought joy to children around the world enjoying the boy wizard’s huge, monster-loving friend.

well as being a fantastic actor

“As, he was intelligent … forensically, witty … brilliantly, and after 40 years to be proud to be known as his agent, I shall skip him,” she stated in a statement.

Born Anthony Robert McMillan in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, the actor changed his title as a homage to celebrated jazz musician John Coltrane.

He performed a string of key television functions before winning international fame, almost all alongside Emma Thompson within John Byrne’s 1987 mini-series “Tutti Frutti” notably. He played doomed guide singer Huge Jazza McGlone in the tale of the fictional Scots rock ‘n’ roll band The Majestics.

Scotland’s Very first Minister Nicola Sturgeon mentioned her favourite of his functions was in the crime collection “Cracker”.

“Robbie Coltrane, Scottish entertainment legend – you will end up missed hugely,” she wrote.

British actor and broadcaster Stephen Fry – who narrated the British edition of the Harry Potter audiobooks – wrote he had met Coltrane nearly exactly 40 years back.

“I had been awe/terror/love struck all at the same time. This kind of depth, power & talent: funny sufficient to result in helpless hiccups & honking once we made our first Television show, “Alfresco”. Farewell, older fellow. Be therefore dreadfully missed” you’ll.

Coltrane died in medical center near Falkirk in Scotland, Britain’s PA Mass media reported.

He could be survived by his sister Annie Rae, his kids Alice and Spencer and their mother Rhona Gemmell, his real estate agent Wright said.
