Haley hesitant to debate DeSantis alone: ‘I prefer debating Donald Trump.
Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley Wants to Debate Donald Trump
Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is ready to engage in a fiery debate, but her sights are set on one opponent in particular: Donald Trump. During an appearance on Hannity, host Sean Hannity asked Haley if she would be willing to debate fellow GOP primary candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis. Haley responded, “Well, I’ve debated him four times. I love debates. I have no issue with that. But quite honestly, Sean, the person I want to debate is Donald Trump. If you can get him on your show, that’s who I want to debate.”
Trump, however, has yet to make an appearance at a Republican primary debate, often choosing to hold rallies and events instead. Despite this, Haley remains determined to face off against the former president. “That’s who we’re looking at,” she explained. “You know, we’re second place in Iowa, second place in New Hampshire, second place until South Carolina. Donald Trump’s the one we’re looking in the windshield. And that’s the one who needs to get up on the debate stage.”
Haley even suggested that Hannity would make an excellent moderator if he were to arrange a debate between herself and Trump. With Trump currently leading his Republican primary rivals by a significant margin, according to a RealClearPolitics poll, Haley is eager to challenge him directly.
Current Poll Numbers
- Trump: 60.3%
- DeSantis: 12.6%
- Haley: 12.1%
The most recent Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa poll also shows Trump in the lead with 51%, followed by DeSantis at 19% and Haley at 16%.
It’s clear that Haley is ready to take on the biggest contender in the race, and she’s not backing down. Will Trump accept the challenge and step onto the debate stage? Only time will tell.
