Guy Fieri’s son shares lessons from dad’s high standards
Food Network Star Guy Fieri Believes in Earning Your Inheritance
Food Network star Guy Fieri is one of several celebrities who believe that their children should work for their inheritance. Fieri’s 27-year-old son Hunter shared his thoughts during a conversation with Fox News Digital at a pre-Super Bowl party.
When asked about being raised by the famous “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” host, Hunter replied, “That is a loaded question. I mean everything, you know, he’s a great father. But hard work and perseverance and just learn as you go. Just keep working hard, keep your head up.”
“He’s taught me a lot about culinary,” Hunter said, prompting Guy Fieri to interject with a joke, “Get your sleep, brush your teeth, eat your vegetables.”
“How to tie my shoes and put on a shirt right and all that stuff,” Hunter added.
The famous Food Network star has made it clear that his kids will need to achieve their own success and not rely on his empire. “I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me,” Fieri said. ”My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral.’ And I told my boys, none of this that we’ve been … that I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.”

“My youngest son, Ryder, is a senior in high school getting ready to graduate, or you know, going to graduate in the spring,” Fieri added. “And he’s like, ‘Dad, this is so unfair. I haven’t even gone to college yet, and you’re already pushing that I’ve got to get an MBA? Can I just get through college?’”
“Shaq said it best. Shaq said it about his kids one time,” Fieri continued. “He says, ‘If you want any of this cheese, you’ve got to give me two degrees.’ Well, my two degrees mean, you know, postgraduate. So they’re on their way.”
The celebrity chef recently signed a multi-year contract with Food Network for over $100 million, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
How did Hunter’s upbringing shape his perspective on hard work and self-reliance?
Erything I have, I have had to work for.”
Hunter shared that his father, Guy Fieri, instilled a strong work ethic in him from a young age. He explained, “I have always had a job, since I could legally work. My dad didn’t want me going out and bumming around, so he was always like, ‘You need a job.'”
According to Hunter, this upbringing taught him valuable life lessons about the importance of hard work and perseverance. He stated, “I think that is the greatest thing my dad instilled in me, was not to rely on anything but myself. I had to make my own living, make my own name.”
Fieri’s philosophy aligns with his own life story. Before finding fame as a Food Network star, Fieri worked tirelessly in the restaurant industry. He started as a dishwasher and gradually worked his way up to become a successful chef and television personality.
Throughout his career, Fieri has emphasized the value of working hard and earning success. In an interview with Forbes, he said, “I think the greatest thing I can offer is the understanding that nobody gave me anything. I had to create my own journey.”
Fieri’s belief in earning one’s inheritance is not unique to him. Many celebrities, including Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, have expressed similar sentiments. They believe that wealth should not be handed down effortlessly, but rather earned through hard work and dedication.
However, Fieri recognizes the importance of providing opportunities for his children. He wants them to have the chance to pursue their dreams but also understand the value of hard work. He said, “I want to give them opportunities, but I also want them to understand they have to work for them.”
Overall, Guy Fieri’s perspective on earning one’s inheritance reflects his own journey to success. He believes that hard work and perseverance are crucial for personal growth and achievement. By teaching his children the value of earning their own living, he instills a strong work ethic that will serve them well in their own endeavors.
