Police Chief Wilfredo Campos said during a press conference Tuesday night that the suspect remains at large but the lockdown at Wilmington Hospital was lifted.

“Regardless of what the motive in this instance might have been, there is never an excuse for violence,” Campos said. “Our investigators will be working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect and make sure they are brought to justice.”

Delaware State Police and FBI personnel were on the scene, but authorities have yet to identify the suspect.

“Anytime there’s any shooting incident, it’s always difficult,” said David Karas, a Wilmington Police Department spokesman. “It’s certainly not what a community wants, and we’re going to make sure to get to the bottom of it and hold the individual responsible.”
