10 armed robberies in 30 minutes caught on camera by alleged group, shocking.

Robbery Spree Leaves Chicago Residents Worried About Crime

Residents of Chicago are on edge after a series of robberies that took place early Sunday morning. According to WLS-TV, 10 robberies occurred between 7:20 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. in the Logan Square and Hermosa neighborhoods. The robbers, who were armed with semiautomatic handguns, targeted victims who were either in vehicles or on the sidewalk.

Surveillance video of one incident showed the robbery taking less than a minute. In the video, a 58-year-old man was assaulted. “It makes me want to double-check my pockets at least three times before leaving the house, at least,” said Alberto Vasquez, who lives near the incident. “It’s very shocking to me.”

Recent Spree of Robberies in Chicago

This latest spree of robberies comes on the heels of several others in the city. Chicago police are currently seeking suspects in a string of six robberies in the Wrightwood section that took place in April and May, according to WFLD. Police are searching for two to four black males between the ages of 15 and 18.

Last week, Chicago police arrested two teenagers in connection with a similar spree in March, according to WGN-TV. The youths, ages 15 and 16, are facing multiple felony charges. Police said they were involved in several armed robberies and carjackings across the city in March. The 15-year-old was linked to five incidents, while the 16-year-old was charged in connection with 11 incidents, police said.

One robbery spree that took place on May 6 led to the shooting death of Chicago police officer Areanah Preston, according to WLS-TV. Police charged four suspects with first-degree murder and multiple counts of armed robbery, arson, burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, and unlawful use of a weapon. The suspects are connected with a string of armed robberies that began May 5 and continued into May 6, and all have extensive juvenile criminal records.

What Can Be Done About Rampant Crime?

Chicago residents are understandably concerned about the recent spate of robberies and other crimes in the city. With suspects as young as 15 years old, it’s clear that something needs to be done to address the root causes of this violence.

  • Increased police presence in high-crime areas
  • Community outreach programs to engage at-risk youth
  • Investment in education and job training programs
  • Stricter gun control laws to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms

These are just a few of the potential solutions that could help reduce crime in Chicago and other cities across the country. It’s up to lawmakers, law enforcement officials, and community leaders to work together to find effective solutions that will keep residents safe.
