‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actress Describes Terrifying House Fire: ‘I Had About 2 Minutes To Get My 3 Kids Out’

On Monday, Caterina Scorsone, who stars in the hit television show Grey’s Anatomy, shared the traumatizing tale of a recent house fire that took the lives of her four pets. According to the Canadian actress, she was able to save her three children in the nick of time.

Scorsone took to Instagram where she revealed the terror she experienced when her home caught fire while she was getting her kids ready for bed. Smoke started seeping through the grout around the tub, and when she looked down the hallway, she saw that the house was already filled with thick black smoke. She only had two minutes to get her children out of the house, and they escaped with just the clothes on their back. While Scorsone was grateful that she was able to get her children out in time, the family unfortunately lost all four of their pets.

The distraught actress shared photos of the charred remains of her home and of her family’s beloved pets that perished in the fire. Scorsone expressed her gratitude for the first responders and neighbors who helped her during and after the tragedy. She said that the experience taught her to cherish the people and beings she loves, and how much her community means to her.

Scorsone expressed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone who showed up to support her family during this difficult time, including her friends at Grey’s Anatomy, her neighbors, her children’s parents from school who sent books and toys, her sisters who flew in to help with logistics, and her team who made everything easier.

Although the loss of their pets was devastating, Scorsone found solace in the fact that she and her children still had each other. She also praised the bravery and dedication of firefighters and investigators who risked their lives to help her and her family during the ordeal.

Scorsone plays Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, and she concluded her post by saying goodbye to her pets and thanking everyone who had supported her family.
