Grassley: Dems Who Weaponized DOJ Are Terrified Of Blanche

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa criticized Democrats for opposing his efforts to expose what he claims is the Biden administration’s abuse of the Justice Department. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley highlighted the DOJ’s restoration under the Trump administration and defended acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, asserting that critics’ opposition indicates his integrity. Grassley criticized Special Counsel Jack smith’s examination into Trump, citing alleged constitutional violations, and accused the Biden DOJ of prioritizing January 6 prosecutions over child sex crimes, which he claims are being neglected despite recent statistics showing meaningful improvements in crime rates and law enforcement achievements as Trump’s administration. He pointed out that U.S. law enforcement has made ample progress in locating missing children, arresting predators, and seizing illegal drugs and firearms. Grassley argued that, despite Democratic attacks claiming the DOJ is broken, the department has achieved notable successes, including reduced murder rates and increased arrests of violent criminals and terrorists. He condemned what he sees as Democratic obstruction of Trump-era nominees and described their tactics as procedural obstruction and media attacks. The article ends with background on Breccan F. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, tore into Democrats on Wednesday, pointing out how they hate him because he is exposing the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department.

Grassley, as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, highlighted the restoration of the Department of Justice under the Trump Administration during the confirmation hearings of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for the full post.

“From my vantage point, if the people who engaged in the worst partisan lawfare this country has ever seen have a problem with Todd Blanche, that’s a good thing in my book,” Grassley said. “As sure as sunrise, today, some of my Democratic colleagues will tell us that Mr. Blanche is a uniquely terrible nominee. Before they do so, however, I’d urge them to remember the boy who cried wolf, and to take a long look in the mirror before lecturing anyone about partisanship at the Justice Department.”

Grassley referenced his office’s numerous disclosures of documents showing former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s conspiracy to get Trump and other Republicans, stating, “Smith’s operation cut corners and blew through constitutional stop signs instead of respecting them.”

He also pointed out that the Biden DOJ deemphasized prosecuting child predators in favor of going after January 6 protesters and rioters.

Under Trump, U.S. Marshals have found over 1,182 missing children, and the FBI has found nearly 7,000 child victims while arresting 2,900 child predators and human traffickers, which Grassley said is a 70 percent increase from 2024.

“That doesn’t sound like failure to me. In contrast, the Biden administration diverted prosecutors from child sex crime cases to January 6 cases. That’s unbelievable,” Grassley said.

While Democrats have “relentlessly attacked the Department and your and President Trump’s leadership” calling “the Department a ‘disgrace’ and suggested the agency is broken,” Grassley went through a list of statistics that show how much the department has recovered since Biden era degradation.

According to Grassley, the country’s murder rate is the lowest it has been since 1900. In Blanche’s opening statement, he pointed to homicides in Washington, D.C., and Memphis, Tennessee — both of which have been known for their rampant homicides — noting that murder is down 60 percent and 40 percent in those cities, respectively.

Meanwhile, the FBI has been clearing out the top 10 most wanted fugitives list, having captured eight, overall FBI violent crime arrests have increased 184 percent, and the bureau has thwarted 849 terrorist attacks. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has also gotten 44,000 illegal firearms off the streets.

Since the beginning of the Trump administration, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has “seized more than 5,000 kilograms of fentanyl powder, 55 million fentanyl pills,” which accounts for over 428 million fatal doses — well over the total population of the United States. The DEA has also seized 240,000 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1.2 million kilograms of cocaine.

Grassley continued:

They’ve established the National Fraud Enforcement Division to address more than five billion dollars in fraud against the American taxpayers. They’ve reduced the immigration case log by more than 468,000. They’re challenging and eliminating racist and unlawful discrimination in the government and private sector. They’re exposing and redressing the Biden-era weaponization of the Department against political opponents.

Anticipating Democrats making a mockery of the hearing, while refusing to acknowledge the successes of the Department under Blanche, Grassley quoted himself from a year ago because “it’s become such a pattern,” stating, “Since the very beginning of this Congress, Democrats have engaged in a relentless obstruction campaign for nearly every one of President Trump’s nominees. Their playbook has included maximum procedural obstruction, unfair media attacks, repeated attempts to allege misconduct and demands for delayed consideration, records and investigations… Like clockwork, just before a hearing or vote, we get another breathless accusation that one of President Trump’s nominees needs to be investigated.”
