Graham dismisses Cheney’s ‘dictatorship’ allegations on Trump, cautions about Biden: “America will be unrecognizable.
Sen. Lindsey Graham Counters Claims by Former Rep. Liz Cheney
During an interview with CNN’s State of the Union, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) passionately responded to former Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WA) assertions about a potential second Donald Trump presidency. He firmly stated that a second term for President Joe Biden would be far worse.
“I understand why people don’t like what [Trump] does and says at times,” Graham expressed. ”But in terms of actions and results, he was a far better president [than] Biden. And if we have four more years of this, Liz Cheney, then we won’t recognize America and the world will be truly on fire.”
DeSantis Warns House GOP Against Using Biden Impeachment Inquiry as ‘Trojan Horse’
Graham’s remarks come in response to Cheney’s interview on CBS Sunday Morning, where she warned that Trump’s potential primary win and reelection would bring the United States closer to a “dictatorship.”
Cheney also expressed concern about a Republican majority in the House in 2025, particularly if the 2024 election is decided by the lower chamber.
“We’re facing an existential crisis with respect to the 2024 election,” Cheney emphasized. “We must ensure that an election potentially thrown into the House of Representatives is not overseen by a Republican majority. The Republican Party of today has made a choice, and they haven’t chosen the Constitution. So, I do think it presents a threat if the Republicans are in the majority in January 2025.”
Graham, who has endorsed Trump for the 2024 presidential election, acknowledged Cheney’s strong dislike for Trump but firmly believes that Biden’s reelection would be detrimental to the country.
“I think a continuation of the Biden presidency would be a disaster for peace and prosperity at home and abroad,” Graham asserted. “Our border is broken, and the only person who can truly fix it is Donald Trump.”
Graham also highlighted the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, stating that these issues were not as prevalent when Trump was in office.
“You know, Hamas and all these other terrorist groups were afraid of Trump,” Graham added passionately.

How does Senator Graham believe the Biden administration’s handling of border security compares to the potential dangers of another term for Donald Trump?
When it comes down to actual policies and the effectiveness of the administration, I think a second term for Biden would be far worse.”
Graham’s response comes after Liz Cheney, who was recently removed from her position as the House Republican Conference chair due to her vocal criticism of Trump, stated that another term for the former president would be detrimental to democracy. Cheney has been vocal about her belief that Trump’s false claims about the 2020 election and his role in inciting the January 6th Capitol insurrection pose a threat to the integrity of the country’s democratic institutions.
However, Graham argues that Biden’s first term has already shown signs of weakness and policies that are detrimental to the American people and their prosperity. He points to the current border crisis, the rising inflation, and the soaring national debt as evidence of the administration’s failures.
Regarding border security, Graham criticizes the Biden administration’s handling of the influx of migrants at the southern border, calling it a complete disaster. He argues that the reversal of Trump’s immigration policies, such as the border wall and the remain in Mexico policy, has resulted in an overwhelming number of illegal crossings and human trafficking. He believes that if Biden were to have a second term, the situation would only worsen and pose an even greater threat to national security.
In terms of economics, Graham raises concerns over the rising inflation rate and the impact it has on the American people. He argues that Biden’s excessive spending and push for massive infrastructure bills could lead to a further devaluation of the dollar and inflationary pressure that would hurt middle-class families and small businesses. According to Graham, a second term for Biden would only exacerbate the economic challenges faced by Americans and hinder the country’s ability to recover and prosper.
Lastly, Graham highlights the soaring national debt under the Biden administration. He argues that the excessive spending and lack of fiscal responsibility pose a significant threat to future generations. He believes that Biden’s proposed tax hikes on corporations and high earners will not be enough to offset the massive spending, ultimately burdening future generations with a staggering amount of debt.
In conclusion, Senator Lindsey Graham counters Liz Cheney’s assertions about the potential dangers of a second term for Donald Trump. He firmly believes that a second term for President Joe Biden would be far worse in terms of border security, economics, and the national debt. While Cheney raises concerns about Trump’s impact on democracy, Graham argues that Biden’s policies and actions have already demonstrated weakness and failures that would only worsen in a potential second term. As the debate continues within the Republican Party, it remains to be seen who will prevail in shaping the future of the party and its stance on Trump’s influence.
