GOP warns of ‘vacuum’ filled by China following Xi-Putin meetings

Republicans warned about the growing challenge posed by the “DragonBear” alliance between Russia and China, including a global leadership “vacuum” filled by Chinese leader Xi Jinping, following a meeting in Moscow by the leaders of the two nations.

Republicans in Congress claim that the White House must take decisive action to reverse China’s current economic, economic, and non-lethal military support.

Previous Army Green Beret Rep. Mike Waltz( R-FL) stated to the Washington Examiner that” we’re seeing a different alignment of autocratic governments cementing between China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea that threatens our interest.”

According to Waltz,” this” no limits” collaboration between Russia and China may be taken literally and has very real military and economic ramifications. ” Xi particularly sees an opportunity to fill the void left by the Biden administration in terms of global management.”

Xi visited Moscow this week and stated to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Wednesday that” we are the ones driving these changes together and there are changes the likes of which we haven’t seen in a hundred years.” Putin concurred, and Xi added,” Take care, lovely partner.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that Xi said at a joint news meeting on Tuesday that” over the past ten years, he and Putin have forged near relations, maintained corporate communication, and delivered beneficial outcomes through corporate coordination between the two countries.”

China claimed that Xi and Putin” shared the view that this partnership has gone far beyond the diplomatic scope and acquired fundamental importance for the worldwide landscape and the future of humanity” and that” China and Russia have followed the principles of decent – neighborliness, friendship, and win– win cooperation.” Xi also noted that” the all-around practical cooperation between China and Russia has yielded fruitful outcomes” since last year, when Russia invaded Ukraine.

At the Kremlin in Moscow on Tuesday, the Chinese and Russian officials also signed combined claims on” Deepenting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era” and” Increasing Economic Cooperation.”

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said this week that “Xi’s visit to Moscow is further proof the Chinese Communist Party has chosen to side with Russia, doubling down on the ‘no limits’ partnership Xi and Putin established before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.”

” Make no mistake: Xi may act as a natural peace broker because she wants Putin to win.” And if China invades Taiwan and offers military, economic, and political support, the world does expect Xi to ask Putin to return the favor, according to McCaul. The United States or our allies and partners do not tolerate Russia’s increased CCP guidance.

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), who is leading the House select committee on China, said this week that “Xi and Putin just doubled down on their no-limits partnership, and while they claimed to oppose a ‘Cold War mentality,’ their actions make clear that they are already engaged in a New Cold War against the United States, our allies, and our values.”

Gallagher continued,” We must act urgently to oppose this de facto bond because we cannot see Russia and the Chinese Communist Party as separate hazards.”

On Tuesday, John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications for the White House National Security Council, stated that” China should press Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine and Ukrainian sovereign place if it wants to play a creative role in this fight.”

When asked about Xi’s journey to Moscow on Wednesday, Kirby responded that” we did not explain it as a peace and” and added,” If China really wants to become effective in that respect, they should be urging President Putin to leave Ukraine.”

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated to the Senate that China and Russia” have a marriage of convenience— I’m not sure if it’s faith.” Russia is a very young member in this marriage, according to Blinken.

China, Blinken continued,” I think their political, social, and to some degree their product assistance for Russia truly goes against our interest.”
