GOP rival revels in Mar-a-Lago IT staffer’s immunity deal; Trump’s gut-wrenching reaction possible.
A Plea Deal at Mar-a-Lago Leaves Chris Christie Laughing
A plea deal reached by an IT staffer at Mar-a-Lago in connection with the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump has brought amusement to Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie.
According to mar-a-lago-it-worker/index.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>CNN, Yuscil Taveras will testify for the prosecution and will not face charges.
In July, Taveras testified before a grand jury, revealing new allegations that Trump and others attempted to delete security footage. Trump has been accused by prosecutor Jack Smith of mishandling classified documents.
Christie, a former New Jersey governor, expressed his thoughts to CNN, stating that Taveras “will be vilified, attacked, and savaged by Donald Trump publicly,” as reported by USA Today.
“And then secondly, Donald Trump will lay in his bed at night staring up at the ceiling trying to remember every conversation he ever had with this guy while he’s sick to his stomach,” Christie said.
Christie, who has consistently criticized Trump throughout his campaign for the GOP nomination, believes that more damaging information will continue to emerge.
“This is what the Republican Party is facing: drip, drip, drip on the guy who’s the frontrunner, which is why he cannot be the nominee,” he said.
Steven Cheung, a representative for Trump, responded by calling Christie a “stone-cold loser” and suggesting that he is seeking a contributor contract once his campaign fails.
During an appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Trump referred to Christie as a “crazed lunatic,” as reported by The Hill.
Christie fired back during another interview, expressing concern about Trump’s mental health and questioning his capacity to be a candidate for president.
“I think anybody who looks at what his objective actions have been over the course of his relationship with me, and what he said yesterday, they know what he was saying yesterday is just so odd and disturbing that it should make everybody question whether this guy really has the psychological capacity to be a candidate for president, let alone president again,” Christie said.
Despite the back-and-forth, Christie expressed sympathy for Trump, stating, “I feel bad for Donald. I really do.”
