Collins was poking fun at a recent report that a doctor told Kennedy that a parasite had made its way to his brain, ate part of it, then died. The information was revealed in an article for the New York Times, raising questions about Kennedy’s cognitive ability.

“You either die a Kennedy with a hole in the brain or live long enough to become a Kennedy with a hole in the brain,” Collins joked in a post on X.

Kennedy’s father was assassinated in 1968 by an anti-Zionist gunman, with the fatal shot being fired behind his right ear. More famously, Kennedy’s uncle, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated by being shot through the head with a sniper rifle.

Collins’s joke drew mixed reactions, with some finding it funny and others finding it offensive. By Wednesday night, it had been viewed over five million times and been liked over 18,000 times.

For his part, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. himself joked about the brain parasite, saying in a post on X that he would “offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate.”

There is no known feud between the two figures, though Collins is known for tweeting provocative jokes on his X account.

In February, in response to an illegal immigrant making obscene gestures toward media cameras after being let off after assaulting a police officer, Collins suggested that they should adopt the practice of death flights, a favored form of extrajudicial killing under the regime of Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet.

“Or we could buy him a ticket on Pinochet Air for a free helicopter ride back,” Collins said at the time.

The post was hidden for violating X’s code of conduct.
