GOP Congressman Calls On Attorney General To Prosecute Abortion Rights Activists Demonstrating At Homes Of SCOTUS Justices

Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks sent a letter on Monday to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging him to prosecute abortion rights protesters who demonstrate at the homes of Supreme Court justices.

Banks’ letter was first shared with Fox News after it had been sent to Garland.

“Your supine response to this unprecedented and ongoing attack on the Supreme Court, and the apparently coordinated threats to churches and to Americans who value life stands, in stark contrast to your aggressive action against parents protesting at school board meetings, and your disproportionately harsh treatment of the January 6 defendants for their alleged crimes of trespassing, obstruction, and parading or picketing,” Banks wrote.

The congressman also argued that a clear bias exists within the Biden administration regarding protesters.

“The evidence shows that under your leadership, the Department has one rule for the Biden Administration’s friends, and a different, much harsher rule, for its opponents. While you had a great deal to say about punishing parents for peacefully exercising their rights to protest the indoctrination to and harm of their children, and very publicly deployed the full weight of federal law enforcement against them, in the face of obvious crimes and violence by the Biden Administration’s ideological allies and financial supporters, you are effectively mute,” Banks wrote.

“This is a dangerous path,” he added.

Banks, a solid pro-life supporter in Congress, released a statement in favor of Roe v. Wade being overturned following the Supreme Court leak earlier this month.

“I am praying that the disastrous Roe decision is overturned. The Supreme Court will finally have given a voice to the voiceless and to Hoosier voters and for the first time in 50 years, regular Americans will have a say in the most important moral and political issue of our time,” he shared in a statement.

“I am again calling on Indiana legislatures and Governor Holcomb to convene a special session to pass pro-life legislation if Roe is overturned,” he added. “This could be the most important victory for protecting the unborn in American history.”

The recent protests at the homes of conservative justices in Virginia led Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin to request assistance from the Fairfax Police Department on Wednesday, calling for local law enforcement to “establish an expanded security perimeter” around the private residences of Supreme Court justices.

Youngkin sent a letter to the Fairfax County Board confirming that the request was a response to the continued and credible threat posed by ongoing planned demonstrations outside the homes of sitting justices, The Daily Wire previously reported.

“I am writing to respectfully request that the Fairfax County Police Department establish an expanded security perimeter around the homes of the three current Supreme Court Justices who reside in Fairfax County,” Younkgin’s letter began.

“This request is based on credible and specific information received about upcoming activities planned at or involving the homes of the Justices in Fairfax County. We believe for the safety of the Justices and their families, their neighbors, and the law enforcement heroes dedicated to preserving peace and order in our communities, that an expanded security perimeter should be established,” Youngkin added.
