Google criticized for disrespectful Memorial Day homepage.

Google Under Fire for Memorial Day Doodle

Google is facing criticism for its Memorial Day doodle, which many say is disrespectful to the sacrifices of our veterans.

For those who don’t know, Google regularly decorates its homepage with illustrations to mark important events or days, such as holidays, major sporting events, and celebrity birthdays. However, this year’s Memorial Day doodle was simply the word “Google” printed in gray.

Many people are calling out Google for not putting more effort into creating a doodle to honor our veterans, who sacrificed so much for our freedom. One Twitter user even called it “sheer disrespect.”

Others have pointed out that Google puts more effort into creating doodles for “pride month” or other days commemorating leftist causes than it did for Memorial Day.

While the Memorial Day doodle does mention the holiday when you hover over it, more effort could have gone into it. Why not include American flags or a sketch of a soldier’s helmet to honor our veterans? Google has produced some spectacular doodles in the past, so it’s clear they have the capacity to do something simple like this.

This also highlights the fact that many Americans don’t properly understand what Memorial Day is. It’s not just a long weekend and an excuse for a cookout; it’s a day of remembrance and mourning, and appreciation for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could be free.

These veterans gave their lives for us, and they deserve much better than this hastily put-together doodle.

What do you think?

  • Do you think Google should have put more effort into its Memorial Day doodle?
  • What would you have liked to see in the doodle to honor our veterans?
