Greenwald slams Wray over lack of ‘disinformation’ definition.
Glenn Greenwald Slams FBI Director for Failing to Define “Disinformation”
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald didn’t hold back in his criticism of FBI Director Christopher Wray after Wray failed to provide a clear definition for the term “disinformation.”
During a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) asked Wray for a firm definition of disinformation, and Wray seemed hesitant to answer.

“They did this under the guise that it was disinformation. Can you define what disinformation is?”
“What I can tell you is that our focus is not on disinformation, broadly speaking…”

Johnson accused the FBI of suppressing conservative-leaning free speech on various topics, including the laptop, the lab-leak theory of COVID-19’s origin, the effectiveness of masks and lockdowns, and election integrity in the 2020 presidential election. He questioned Wray on the definition of disinformation.
Wray evaded the question, stating that their focus was not on disinformation in general. Johnson pressed further, but Wray maintained that the only disinformation they addressed came from foreign actors, without providing a clear definition.
In response, Greenwald took to Twitter, stating, “The reason FBI Director Chris Wray can’t define ‘disinformation’ — even though that’s the basis for the FBI’s pressure campaign on Big Tech to censor Americans — is it’s a bullshit, concocted term with no fixed meaning.”

That’s what gives it its power (like “terrorism”): https://t.co/Qhq6CNd2Qr

Greenwald further explained that the ambiguity and lack of a fixed meaning of terms like “disinformation,” “hate speech,” and “terrorism” allow those in power to subjectively apply them as they see fit, enabling abuse.
However one defines “disinformation,” it’s beyond reasonable dispute that the FBI always has been, and continues to be, one of the most prolific disseminators of it.
The same is true of corporate media and the establishment frauds they’ve christened as “disinformation experts.” pic.twitter.com/21MSZ6tw49

Greenwald concluded by stating that the FBI, along with corporate media and so-called “disinformation experts,” have been prolific disseminators of disinformation. He supported his statement with a screenshot of a tweet from former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who falsely labeled the Hunter Biden laptop as “Russian disinformation.”
