Ga. election workers caught shredding voter registration applications

An investigation has been underway after two Georgia election workers were fired for allegedly shredding voter registration applications. According to a statement on Monday, two employees of the Fulton County Elections Office checked out batches of applications for processing and shredding nearly 300 forms.

“Fellow employees reported this behavior to their supervisor on Friday morning and the employees were terminated the same day. We believe that approximately 300 voter registration application are at issue. We reported this to the secretary of state office and requested an investigation.”

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has called on the Department of Justice to investigate the matter.

“The Department of Justice needs to take a long look at what Fulton County is doing and how their leadership disenfranchises Fulton voters through incompetence and malfeasance. The voters of Georgia are sick of Fulton County’s failures.”

This comes as election operations in Fulton County have been under review by the state. Raffensperger has called for stronger management over the county’s elections by backing a new election law requiring new leadership.

Raffensperger went on to say Fulton County elections have experienced documented failures for decades and Georgians were tired of the embarrassing revelations.
