A forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election has been set to begin in four of the largest counties in Texas. On Thursday, the Texas secretary of state announced a full investigation of ballots would be conducted in Dallas, Harris, Tarrant and Collin counties.

This comes hours after President Trump called for a greater review of results in the Lone Star State. The 45th president released a public letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and demanded the governor support an election audit bill in the state’s legislative special session.

“We need HB 16, which was just filed in the Third Special Session,” asserted Trump in a later to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R). “This legislation specifically addresses the 2020 presidential election and enables audits for future elections.”

The secretary of state expects the legislature to pay for the effort and stresses they have the authority to ensure votes are counted honestly.
