Francesca Hong is ‘running away’ from her DSA record: Byron York
Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York criticized wisconsin State Rep. Francesca Hong, a gubernatorial candidate, for trying to hide her socialist roots. York accused her of running away from her record and questioned her campaign’s denials about advocating for abolishing the Senate, referencing a tweet where she explicitly said “Abolish the Senate.” Hong’s campaign responded strongly, denying any support for abolishing the Senate and condemning York and Tiffany for spreading falsehoods.
republican candidate Tom Tiffany accused Hong of endorsing Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) ideas, citing a viral video where DSA co-chair Megan Romer discussed platform positions like abolishing the Senate and replacing the presidency.Hong’s campaign countered, asserting she never supported abolishing the Senate, and showcased a tweet from Hong stating “Abolish the Senate,” which Tiffany highlighted as proof of her position. York noted that Hong aligns closely with DSA principles and urged Republicans to better educate voters on the DSA’s agenda. He emphasized that Republicans need to do more to improve their messaging on issues like lowering living costs and strengthening the economy for midterm electoral success.

“It seems the best thing they [Republicans] can do is educate the public on what the DSA really stands for, and what these Democratic candidates who are members of the DSA actually stand for,” York said.
“Their strongest point is, ‘Well, we may not be that great, but the other side is crazy.’ Republicans are going to have to do more than that,” he continued. “They’re going to have to do more to show Americans that they are working to lower their cost of living and improve their economic condition.”
