Four House contests Republicans fighting to hold in deep-blue territory in 2024

Arizona House 6: Rep. Juan Ciscomani

Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R.AZ) won the hearts of voters in 2022’s midterm elections. His stance on southern borders and first-generation American upbringing were a big draw for voters.

Ciscomani was born and raised in Mexico. He ran his campaign for the American Dream, drawing on his dad’s experiences, an illegal immigrant who came to America legally. For his efforts, he has received support from Republicans. repeated criticism Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Biden’s approach towards border security as well as the increase in Fentanyl Overdoses.

In the midterm elections, he defeated Democratic State Senator Kirsten Engel and became one of the last Republicans to secure the GOP majority in Congress. His race in 2024 is a toss up after the voters elected a Democratic Governor and reelected Senator Mark Kelly (D–AZ), making Arizona blue.

Arizona’s House seats are held by 15 Democrats and 23 Republicans. Only Ciscomani (R-AZ), and Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) are among the remaining Republicans.

California House 13: Rep. John Duarte

House Democrats lost their seats in two of the bluest state, California, and New York, in 2022. California, however, is still dominated by Democrats. They hold the governor’s chair and the legislature.

California’s midterm elections marked the beginning of elections after redistricting. This allowed certain parts of California to be home to more GOP voters. But, the Republican seats within the state are vulnerable and will be even more so in 2024.

Rep. John Duarte, R-CA (one such representative), was the one who held this seat. He had the closest congressional race in 2022.

Duarte was victorious by just a handful of hundred votes defeating Adam Gray is the Democratic candidate. Gray gave in and the race was called. The race was among two that were undecided within the weeks and days following Nov. 8, election.

Duarte will likely find himself in a similar scenario in the next cycle, as Democrats increase their efforts to gain a majority of the House with a 14 percentage point Democratic registration edge in the 2022 election.

New York House 4: Rep. Anthony D’Esposito
