Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard calls out Biden and Harris for not attending March for Israel rally in DC
Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Calls Out Biden and Harris for Absence at Pro-Israel Rally
Former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for not joining the supporters of Israel who gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to rally against antisemitism. Gabbard expressed her disappointment on Fox News, stating, “There’s a very loud absence, though, in knowing that President Biden and Vice President Harris are literally just down the street as people are traveling here from all over the country.”
Biden and Harris are currently in San Francisco attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and are scheduled to participate in a campaign reception in the evening. Gabbard emphasized that their absence sends the wrong message at a time when antisemitic attacks are on the rise globally.
Gabbard, a former presidential candidate and U.S. Army Reserve officer, highlighted that Hamas’s goal extends beyond the conflict between Israel and Gaza or Palestine. She stated, “Their goal is to establish a global Islamist caliphate and destroy anyone who doesn’t adhere to their radical interpretation of Islam, including Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and others.”
Supporters of Israel Demand Action
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL), and other members of Congress joined hundreds of thousands of pro-Israel demonstrators who pleaded for the safe return of those held hostage by Hamas and called for an end to the calls for a ceasefire. Israeli Ambassador Michael Herzog directly addressed the crowd, condemning the rallies that glorify Hamas and celebrate the murder of Jews, stating, “The dark demons of antisemitism have been unleashed.”
Since the Hamas terror attacks on Oct. 7, which resulted in over 1,400 deaths according to Israeli officials, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 11,200 people in Gaza, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled enclave. Protests have erupted nationwide, with thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators marching in downtown Washington last week, demanding a ceasefire and humanitarian aid for Gaza residents.

What does Tulsi Gabbard’s call for President Biden and Vice President Harris to engage directly with the Jewish community and work towards eradicating anti-Semitism highlight about the responsibility of elected officials in supporting marginalized communities
Ng, “It is really unfortunate that our President and Vice President were not there to stand with those who are fighting against hatred and bigotry towards the Jewish people.”
Gabbard, known for her bipartisan approach and support for Israel, pointed out the significance of the rally, which aimed to condemn the recent surge in antisemitic attacks across the United States. As a former member of Congress, Gabbard understands the importance of elected officials showing solidarity with communities facing discrimination.
The rally, organized by the Anti-Defamation League and other pro-Israel groups, drew thousands of supporters who came together to denounce the rise in antisemitic incidents in recent weeks. The event featured prominent speakers, including religious leaders, politicians, and Holocaust survivors, who all highlighted the need for unity and action against the rising hatred.
Gabbard emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “We are witnessing an alarming increase in hate crimes and violence targeting Jewish communities. This is a time when leaders should be present, showing their unwavering support and bringing attention to this troubling issue.”
The absence of President Biden and Vice President Harris at the rally raises questions about their commitment to addressing and combating antisemitism. As representatives of a country that prides itself on diversity and religious freedom, it is crucial for the nation’s leaders to actively condemn acts of hatred against any religious or ethnic group.
While the White House did release a statement condemning antisemitic attacks, Gabbard argued that actions speak louder than words. Attending the rally would have sent a powerful message both to the Jewish community and to those perpetrating acts of hate.
Gabbard’s criticism is not unfounded. Throughout her career, she has consistently advocated for religious freedom and the rights of all individuals. Her disappointment in the absence of President Biden and Vice President Harris stems from their failure to seize an opportunity to stand up against antisemitism.
The rally served as a reminder that in times of rising hatred, leaders need to stand shoulder to shoulder with those affected. It is not enough to issue statements – actions and public displays of solidarity are integral in combating bigotry.
Gabbard concluded her remarks by urging President Biden and Vice President Harris to engage directly with the Jewish community, listen to their concerns, and actively work towards eradicating antisemitism. She emphasized the importance of leaders leading by example and using their platform to promote unity, tolerance, and understanding.
As the fight against antisemitism continues, it is crucial for elected officials to prioritize and actively support marginalized communities. Former Representative Tulsi Gabbard’s call for leadership and accountability serves as a reminder that actions carry more weight than mere words.
Antisemitism should not be tolerated, and it is the responsibility of all leaders, including President Biden and Vice President Harris, to actively combat this form of hatred. Their absence at the pro-Israel rally highlights the missed opportunity to demonstrate unity and solidarity, sending a message that the fight against antisemitism is a priority for the United States.
