Former Raiders tight end finds out he has cancer during routine physical during free agency

Foster Moreau, a former Las Vegas Raiders tight end, discovered that he had cancer during a routine physical while he was a free agent with the New Orleans Saints.

On Twitter, Moreau announced that he would be stepping away from football to deal with the diagnosis.

He tweeted: “Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me. During a routine physical conducted by the Saint’s medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer,”

Moreau ended the statement on an optimistic note, implying that he would return to football after treatment: “That being said, I’ll go kick this thing’s a** and get back to doing what I love! AMDG!”

Hodgkin’s lymphoma is now much easier to deal with than in the past, with the relative survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma at about 89%, thanks to advancements in medical technology.
