Former NFL Defensive Back Stanley Wilson Jr. Dead At 40 After Collapsing In Mental Hospital

Stanley Wilson Jr., a former Detroit Lions defensive back, died in hospital earlier this month.

TMZ reported Wilson was transferred to the hospital on February 1, after being deemed incompetent for trial in a vandalism matter. He had been arrested in August last year.

According to sources, he died from collapse shortly after arriving at the facility. No foul play was suspected.

Wilson was selected in the third round by the NFL Draft 2005 from Stanford University. After three seasons with the Lions, he suffered a devastating Achilles tendon injury that ended his career.

According to the police, Wilson was arrested for burglary three times between 2016-17. He was reportedly naked and high in methamphetamine. Sports casting.

Wilson was the son Stanley Wilson Sr. Wilson, who also played in NFL and suffered serious mental and legal problems off the field.

Wilson Sr. was drafted out of Oklahoma in the 9th Round of 1983 NFL Draft. He ran back for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Wilson Sr. was expelled for two seasons due to his cocaine addiction.

He reached the low point in his career in an event that should have been his high point: Super Bowl XXIII, 1989.

Wilson Sr. became high again while getting ready for the game.

Wilson vanished during the Super Bowl, while authorities searched for him.

“This just shows how terrible this [drug] stuff is,” said Wilson Sr.’s agent, Reggie Turner. “His mother and father are here for the game and they are just devastated. They don’t know what has happened to their son. No one has found him yet.”

Bengals Coach Sam WycHe was saddened over the incident and lamented how drugs overtook Wilson Sr.’s life.

“The tragedy with Stanley Wilson is not in a football sense,” he . “There was a precious life that was lost last night to something I heard George Bush say he was going to purge this country of. And I plead with our president to do that. Because Stanley Wilson didn’t screw up; the cocaine overtook him. And I don’t know why our country is going to hell in a handbasket, and we don’t even know it. This [Wilson incident] is a symptom of it.”
