Hogan urges certain GOP candidates to withdraw from the race.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan Calls for Republican Presidential Candidates to Drop Out
In a recent interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan expressed his belief that it was time for some of the Republican presidential candidates to step aside. Hogan, a Republican who opposes former President Donald Trump, shared his thoughts on the 2024 presidential race.
“Look, I think there’s too many people in the field,” Hogan stated. “You should not be in the race if you don’t make the debate stage. If you’re on the debate stage and you’re willing to challenge the leader at 50 percent, but unwilling to challenge Donald Trump, you should get off the stage.”
“If you’re in there running for vice president, or you’re trying to be a Cabinet secretary, or you’re seeking fame, writing a book, or aiming for television appearances, you should exit the race,” Hogan added.
Hogan specifically mentioned former Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), stating that it was time for him to drop out because “he’s not going to be president.” He also predicted that other Republicans and conservative leaders would start pressuring lower polling candidates to prioritize the country and the party over their own egos and goals.
Earlier this month, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez became the first Republican candidate to drop out of the presidential race after failing to qualify for the first primary debate.
