Forcing Acceptance Of Trans-Identifying Powerlifters Could Destroy The Integrity And Soul Of My Sport

A Minnesota state court ruled last Wednesday that USA Powerlifting Jaycee Cooper (a biological man who identifies himself as a transgender female) must be allowed to compete in the USAPL competitions’ female division. Readers of this site can probably guess my general opinions on this ruling – transgenderism and trans-identifying athletes are just one of the issues that I and my talented colleagues at The Daily Wire report on every day. Because I’m a powerlifter, this case is personal to me.

Jaycee Cooper is not the first to tell you about Jaycee’s case. According to openpowerlifting.comCooper was a female competitor in the 2019 USPA National Championships. USPA is an alternative federation that has different rules. rulesTrans-identifiable lifters can use the. Cooper placed fourth in the 198+ category, which is basically the women’s super-heavyweight. His squat/bench/deadlift total was 936.9lbs. Cooper could have competed in the men’s 308 weight category and placed 6th. However, he would have lifted 600 lbs less than the 5th placing lifter had he been a man. He probably wouldn’t qualify: To be eligible for the USPA National competition you must have a Class II total. The Class II total for the men’s 308 is 1332.8, 400 more than Cooper’s best. It’s the old song and dance. An athlete who struggles to make it with biological men becomes a transwoman, and then wins the competition.

The legal outcome was also to be expected. Cooper lives in Minnesota. Minnesota has a comprehensive “Human Rights” law that prohibits discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and sex. The judge. Patrick C. DiamondHe is liberal. Predictably, he determined That “[p]erformance advantage is not a reason recognized under the [Minnesota Human Rights Act] to discriminate because of sexual orientation or sex.”

He went even further. Although he said that the court would consider it later, he appeared to be inclined to dismiss evidence from USAPL indicating that trans-identifying competition have a performance advantage. This could lead to them being excluded. “[T]he USAPL’s evidence of competitive advantage does not take into account any competitive disadvantage a transgender athlete might face from, for example, increased risk of depression and suicide, lack of access to coaching and practice facilities, or other performance suppression common to transgender persons,” Diamond opined.

“The USAPL also did not consider any unique advantages their sport might convey to transgender athletes including increased fitness, combating the side effects of medication and treatment, and increasing feelings of acceptance and well-being.” The Competitive advantages Although it is obvious that trans-identifying males from female athletes has been a proven fact, biology gets ignored to decrease depression and increase. “feelings of acceptance and well-being,” Two things that have no bearing on athletic performance are: Everything must be accepted by trans people in Minnesota’s eyes.

Even worse than the actual circumstances are the consequences. An anecdote will help me illustrate my point. My senior year in high school, I participated in a competition. The guy I was competing against had already smoked me in the bench press, and I needed to pull a 575 deadlift to win overall – 50 pounds more than my personal best. I made my final attempt on the platform. I groaned. I pulled the handle to my knees, then dropped it. No lift. That was my final attempt. I tried everything, but it didn’t go as planned. It was heartbreaking. Even worse was that my opponent made his last lift seem easy. Yet, I still lost.

If this ruling stands, the pain and heartbreak I felt that day will be shared by many other female lifters. Forced to compete against men, a woman would have to push herself far and above her known limits to win or be competitive, putting her at greater risk of injury or failure – only for a biological male to step up to the platform and beat her without a struggle. I lost easily. However, these women will not be successful if they do not win. It is a feat of excellence for heavyweight female lifters. A middleweight male lifter wouldn’t be able make it look so easy. Women must train for years to reach 1,000 pounds. My 1,000-pound total was achieved two years after my first lift.

If biological men can compete with women, they will set records and win championships in women’s divisions, while women will be disqualified from competing at the highest level. It has already happened in Swimming, Track and FieldAnd MMAAmong other sports, Although Powerlifting would not be the only exception, it would lose something.

Powerlifting is one the most friendly sports. You feel a sense of admiration, respect and appreciation. You cheer for the guy beating you, and you scream “UP! UP!” For him, you will shout at the top your lungs. He’s pushing himself to the absolute limit and is going to win. However, no one wants their support for someone who will win by default. Someone who puts in only the minimum effort will not feel fulfilled. Jaycee Cooper and other sub-par men would be unable to lift elite women. This would not only ruin the integrity of female powerlifting, but it would also sap the soul.

The ruling by the Minnesota court is wrong. The ruling could potentially cripple women’s strengthlifting. However, this doesn’t seem important because powerlifting, just like everything else, must comply with radical gender theory. USAPL is, of course, considering an appeal and should take all necessary steps to preserve the integrity of their sport and federation. Conservatives should stand with USAPL.

Women’s sports are for them Women. These spaces must be defended and maintained with assertiveness and no compromises. We have to be bold in fighting transgenderism, when it becomes a reality, and we must push back. Conservatives have an opportunity to be strong in this case. We should take advantage of this opportunity for the benefit of all women involved in my sport, and all other sports.
