Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol after she allegedly shot at two people on a highway with a rifle. She reportedly announced her intention to go on a shooting spree to the staff of a hotel she checked out of, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The agency said that she was compelled to go on the shooting spree after being directed by “God” concerning the eclipse.

Celestine fired on her first victim, according to police, 5 miles after getting on Interstate 10, hitting his vehicle. Though the victim’s car was hit multiple times, and his arm was grazed by a bullet, he was able to escape with minor injuries. He was also struck by glass fragments from the car window.
After driving further, Celestine purportedly shot another victim in the neck. He was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers stopped and arrested her at a traffic stop, where they recovered an AR-15 and pistol.
Celestine is being charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm.

While apparently feeling commanded by God to carry out the crime, officials reported that Celestine said that “she was God,” according to Fox 35 Orlando.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
