5 Signs Joe Biden Won’t Run for President in 2024: Ex-GOP Politician
Is President Joe Biden Withdrawing from the 2024 Presidential Election?
According to former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, President Joe Biden is setting the stage to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election. In an engaging Op-Ed for Fox News, Chaffetz cited five factors that he believes are clues to Biden’s potential withdrawal:
Clues to Biden’s Potential Withdrawal
- The lack of campaign staff.
- Limited travel.
- The Kamala Harris factor.
- Biden’s response to the Hawaii disaster.
- The president’s dealing with the burgeoning scandal around his son, Hunter.
Chaffetz highlights that Biden’s campaign team is currently “a tiny skeleton crew of staffers working exclusively out of his home state of Delaware.” He points out that as of last quarter, Biden had just four people on the payroll, all working out of the party offices. This lack of urgency to mount a full-scale campaign, especially with the first primary votes being five months away, raises questions about Biden’s intentions.
Chaffetz also questions Biden’s limited and politically questionable campaign travel. Instead of focusing on nearby states like Nevada or Colorado, the president visited deep-red Utah. Similarly, Biden’s trip to Arizona, where he proclaimed the Grand Canyon to be one of the “nine wonders” of the world, did not help expand his base in critical Arizona but rather polarized voters.
Furthermore, Chaffetz notes that Vice President Kamala Harris is little-used and has a minimal portfolio. He raises doubts about her ability to tackle important issues such as immigration and human trafficking, as well as her understanding of emerging technologies like AI.
Biden’s response to the Hawaii disaster also raised eyebrows. When asked about the fires there, he responded with a “no comment,” which Chaffetz finds inexplicable. This missed opportunity to show leadership and address the concerns of those affected by the fires reflects poorly on Biden’s ability to handle crises.
Lastly, Chaffetz brings up the Hunter Biden scandal, stating that the campaign seems to be locking down as evidence surfaces of the president’s son taking payments from foreign entities in exchange for access to his father.
In conclusion, Chaffetz argues that Biden is not sharing his vision for the future and is instead hiding from the press, scandals, and his own incompetence as a commander-in-chief. He predicts that Biden won’t be a candidate in 2024, which would be good news for Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who is urging Biden to step aside.
From various sources, including an Op-Ed in The Berkshire Eagle, it is clear that the message is the same: Biden should withdraw from the race. Critics argue that he lacks the physical and mental energy to fully exploit the power of the presidency and that it is time for a new generation of Democratic candidates to rise.
While changing horses in midstream is a risk, clinging to the hope that Biden can win is an even greater risk. As the 2024 general election approaches, there is still time to rally behind another candidate and force Biden out of the race, just as Eugene McCarthy forced out Lyndon Johnson eight months before the 1968 general election.
