As ‍the fires ⁣raged ​on, the County of Maui issued a ‌stark warning on X, the popular social⁣ media​ platform:⁤ “Do NOT go to Lahaina ​town.” The urgency of the message was clear, ‌emphasizing the severity of the situation.

Amidst the chaos, ⁢emergency⁢ services have been ⁣working tirelessly to​ provide aid and support. ⁤Jim Ireland, the director of‍ Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, revealed that several patients have‍ been ⁢transferred to Oahu, an island in ⁢Honolulu County. While not all of the patients⁤ are burn victims, at least ‌three are⁣ in critical⁤ condition, ​underscoring ⁢the gravity of the wildfires’ impact.

Meanwhile, Kula, another district in Maui, is grappling with ‍its ‍own battle against the relentless fires. Mayor Richard Bissen ⁢reported that two homes have already fallen victim to the flames,⁤ and over 1,000 acres of land have been scorched.

Authorities have taken swift action⁣ to​ ensure the safety of residents, evacuating at least 80 people from the affected areas. Multiple shelters have been set up across Maui, providing refuge for those displaced by the wildfires. While these shelters are nearing maximum capacity, they continue to welcome new arrivals as needed.
