Female College Hoops Player Charged With Assault After Punching Opponent

Jamirah Shutes, a person for the Memphis Tigers, has been charged with rape after appearing to blow Bowling Green State University person in the face after their game on Thursday in Ohio during the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Bowling Green State University Police Department has charged a resident of the Memphis Women’s Basketball team with rape in response to the incident physical incident that occurred on Thursday following the WNIT home game, according to BGSU.

The statement continued,” BGSU Athletics is also conducting its own review.” Violence is never satisfactory, and our top priority is the wellbeing and well-being of our school sportsman, who is recovering and doing well.

The announcement concluded,” No additional comment is available at this time; this is an energetic investigation in collaboration with the City of Bowling Green Prosecutor.”

The players were passing through the postgame handshake line after BGSU defeated Memphis 73 – 60 in the third round of the competition when Falcons player Elissa Brett reportedly spoke with Shutes, according to Outkick.

Now, Shutes can be seen in the video below reaching out and appearing to blow Brett across the face. As one of Shutes’ teammates pulls the Tigers person away from the area, Brett collapses to the ground. Brett’s teammates then encircle her and call for assistance.

The crowd started to clap after Brett was struck, and instructors pointed Shutes’ way.

The New York Post reported that Bowling Green discipline Robyn Fralich later stated that the college was” figuring all those things out” regarding what transpired during the hand set following the game.

A statement from BGSU that there was a police investigation into the affair was posted on Twitter.
