Federal Agents Raid Wrong Hotel Room During Training Exercise
A sleeping airline pilot’s Boston‘s hotel room was unknowingly raided by federal officials on Tuesday during a botched training exercise, during which FBI and Defense Department officials handcuffed and questioned the bewildered pilot for nearly an hour.
According to CBS News Boston, the FBI released a statement after the incident and said, “At approximately 10:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the FBI Boston Division was assisting the US Department of Defense in conducting a Department of Defense (DOD) training exercise at a hotel in Boston to simulate a situation their personnel might encounter in a deployed environment. Based on inaccurate information, they were mistakenly sent to the wrong room and detained an individual, not the intended role player.”
Fortunately, no one was hurt, the FBI continued. ” To verify that this was in fact a training exercise, the Boston Police Department was called and responded to the world. The FBI and our law enforcement partners always put safety first, and we take these instances very significantly. The Boston Division is examining the affair with the DOD to determine whether additional action is necessary.
The Stuart Street Revere Hotel on the 15th bed was where the Delta Air Lines captain was staying. Agents began banging on his doorstep, place 1505, after he had fallen asleep, and they were requesting him to let them in. He complied, and they went inside to start their mock investigation and training session, which included once tossing him into the shower.
The captain, a man in his 30s, was not included in their train more than 45 minutes into their training session, which was intended to get agents ready for the Defense Department’s deployment’s.
The hotel called the local police and EMS, but the captain turned down healing after the incident.
