Special Agent Garret O’Boyle, described by House Republicans as an FBI whistleblower, claims that the bureau retaliated against him and left his family homeless. O’Boyle alleges that the FBI’s leadership retaliated against him after he was moved to the Virginia area from Kansas. He says that after the move, he and his family were rendered homeless after he was placed on unpaid suspension.

FBI Denies Retaliation Claims

The FBI has denied claims that the bureau retaliated against individuals who divulged internal information about the agency. An FBI spokesperson said in a statement that the FBI’s mission is to uphold the Constitution and protect the American people, and that the FBI has not and will not retaliate against individuals who make protected whistleblower disclosures.

O’Boyle Plans to Keep Fighting

In a recent interview with Fox News, O’Boyle said that he was stuck in a “purgatory-like state” while awaiting federal recourse and that his family was figuring out what to do “day by day.” He doesn’t plan on resigning, but he offered a caveat that he won’t be able to do this forever. He plans to keep fighting and shining a light on the darkness that the FBI continues to try to hide.

House Judiciary Subcommittee Report

Last week, the House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released a report saying that O’Boyle was reassigned to a different department, prompting him and his family to move to Virginia. When he arrived on the first day, he was placed on unpaid, indefinite suspension, effectively making his “family homeless” and depriving them of personal belongings, “including his young children’s clothing,” according to the report. The report alleges that O’Boyle’s testimony reveals “that the FBI’s partisan leadership is currently engaging in a ‘purge’ of agents who hold conservative beliefs.” O’Boyle also described the FBI’s leadership as a “ten-headed snake” filled with “rot.”
