FBI raids nearly two dozen Minneapolis facilities in fraud investigation
Federal authorities carried out court-authorized raids in Minneapolis, executing 22 search warrants across nearly two dozen locations tied largely to Somali-linked businesses, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged minnesota fraud that prosecutors say may have defrauded billions of taxpayer dollars, including Medicaid.
The Justice Department saeid the FBI and other agencies were involved in the operation, while the Department of Homeland Security stated its investigations unit also carried out criminal search warrants related to “rampant” taxpayer fraud. Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance, praised the raids, with DHS warning that the misuse of taxpayer funds would be thoroughly pursued.
The investigation follows earlier concerns about widespread welfare-related fraud schemes, including suspected misuse of funds for childcare centers such as the Quality Learning Center, and other programs that received federal and state money. The article also references claims that the scope of the alleged fraud is important, with Medicaid fraud estimated to cost taxpayers about $9 billion.
Authorities on Tuesday raided nearly two dozen facilities in Minnesota, as federal officials continue to probe allegations that the state was defrauded of billions in taxpayer dollars.
Twenty-two federal search warrants were executed by the FBI and other agencies on Tuesday morning, according to the Justice Department. The locations in Minneapolis were largely Somali-linked businesses, according to Fox News, including the city’s Quality Learning Center, which infamously misspelled “Learning” as “Learing” on its signage.

The development comes after concerns last fall about sweeping fraud schemes targeting federal and state welfare programs in Minnesota prompted government investigations and heightened federal scrutiny into similar suspected fraud operations across the country. Federal prosecutors have said that in Minnesota, Medicaid fraud alone likely costs taxpayers $9 billion.
Some of the suspected fraud involved childcare centers, such as the Quality Learning Center, and other welfare programs that received federal and state funding.
