Family Files Lawsuit Against Clinic Claiming They Pressured Teenager Into Getting Abortion

A Virginia family filed a lawsuit this week alleging that their daughter, 15, was forced to have an abortion by an abortion clinic without her consent. 

WJHL reported that the family is now suing the clinic and the Dickenson County Department of Social Services. WJHL):

Civil suit alleges that a DSS employee forced the girl to have an abortion. The DSS’s local director attempted to retroactively obtain judicial consent. “for the unlawful abortion.” They are both named as defendants together with the abortion clinic director, who the suit accuses the of participating in the social worker’s attempts to persuade girl. A doctor from the clinic is also named as a defendant in the suit.

The suit claims that CRFM, who was about three months pregnant, was removed from her father’s custody by Dickenson County Department of Social Services on Jan. 19. The suit claims that she was with her father from August to be placed with a close friend.

Tim AcAfee was the attorney representing the family. He said it’s “shocking” The family claims that the girl, who was underage, was coerced into having an unplanned pregnancy. According to reports, the family seeks $10 million in compensatory damages as well as $5.4 million in punitive damages.

“Some people would say you killed something,” McAfee spoke to the outlet. “The young lady has killed her baby. That’s how she looks at it.”
