Lewis Hamilton slams Florida education law on parental rights.

Lewis Hamilton Defies Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill with Rainbow Helmet

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton

has taken a stand against Florida’s controversial Parental Rights in Education bill, which prohibits classroom discussions on gender identity and sexual orientation for children in kindergarten through third grade. The British driver has vowed to wear a rainbow on his helmet during the highly anticipated F1 race in suburban Miami this weekend to show his support for the LGBTQ community.

Hamilton expressed his disappointment with the bill, stating, “It’s not good at all. I stand by those within the community here. I hope they continue to stand firm and push back. I’ll have the rainbow on my helmet. It’s no different to when we were in Saudi.”

While Hamilton opposes the bill, he has not called for F1 to avoid racing in Florida or offered to forfeit the race to back his views. He stated, “It’s not for me to decide something like that. I did hear and have read about some of the decisions that have been made in government here and I do not agree with it and I do not support it.”

Hamilton emphasized that the people of Miami are not responsible for the bill, but rather the government officials who passed it. He hopes that his support for the LGBTQ community will send a positive message and encourage them to continue fighting against the bill.

The F1 race in Miami is the first of three stops in the United States this season, with the other races taking place in Austin, Texas, and Las Vegas. Hamilton’s stand has garnered attention and support from fans and activists alike.
