Ex-Intel Official Who Signed Letter Saying Hunter Biden Laptop Is Russian Disinfo Admits He Knew “Significant Portions” of Emails “Had to Be Real”
One of the signatories of a now-discredited open letters attempting discredit the findings of the Hunter Biden After it was first reported in the public eye, more than two years later, laptop made a shocking admission.
Douglas Wise, a former Defense Intelligence Agency deputy Director and former senior CIA Operations officer, was one of more than 50 former intel officers who claimed that the New York Post reported the contents on the laptop’s contents in October 2020. “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
Wise admitted in an interview published Sunday by The Australian that the majority of emails he received were not based in fact.
“All of us figured that a significant portion of that content had to be real to make any Russian disinformation credible,” Wise shared his thoughts with The Australian.

According to The Australian Wise said that he had no regrets signing the letter and that he was happy with its contents. “no surprise” The emails were authentic.
Politico published the first open letter. It was widely cited by Democrats as well as members of the legacy media to downplay Hunter Biden’s findings, which were largely only being taken seriously in conservative media.
“We are all individuals who devoted significant portions of our lives to national security… We are all also individuals who see Russia as one of our nation’s primary adversaries,” The ex-intel officers began. “All of us have an understanding of the wide range of Russian overt and covert activities that undermine US national security, with some of us knowing Russian behavior intimately, as we worked to defend our nation against it for a career… Perhaps most important, each of us believes deeply that American citizens should determine the outcome of elections, not foreign governments.”
“It is for all these reasons that we write to say that the arrival on the US political scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” They wrote.
As questions continue to swirl about Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, multiple criminal investigations are being brought against him.

Politico first reported on the open letters. It was also the first legacy media outlet in September 2021 to confirm the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The New York Times, The Washington Post and NBC News, CNN, CBS News and NBC News all followed their lead in 2022 and verified that the laptop was authentic.
Many of former President Trump’s Defenders say that Big Tech and the media suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story in order to favor his father’s election victory.
