Former CNN producer sentenced for sexually assaulting 9-year-old girl.

A Former CNN Producer Sentenced to 19 Years in Prison for Child Sex Crimes

A former veteran CNN producer, John Griffin, has been sentenced to spend 19 years in federal prison for committing heinous child sex crimes. This shocking case came to light when federal authorities alleged that Griffin lured a 9-year-old girl to his home in Vermont. The Samford Advocate reported on this disturbing incident.

According to prosecutors, Griffin enticed the child and her adopted mother to a skiing residence in Vermont that he owned with his now-former wife. Tragically, the girl, who is now 11, was exposed to this abhorrent behavior, and her adopted mother permitted it.

The indictment stated that the victim “was directed to engage in and did engage in illegal sexual activity.” Griffin went to great lengths to carry out his crimes, enticing the two to drive from Nevada to Boston and then driving them to his Vermont home in his Tesla.

Prosecutors revealed that Griffin even sent the adopted mother $3,500 to convince her to meet with him. He boasted about his ability to teach girls as young as 7 to be “submissive” to men, claiming to be a master at “sexual training.”

Griffin specifically targeted mothers with daughters and used messaging apps like Kik to carry out his sinister plans. Vermont U.S. Attorney Nikolas Kerest stated that Griffin sought victims who were “vulnerable.”

In order to avoid a trial, Griffin pleaded guilty last year. This week, he received a sentence of 19 years in federal prison, along with an additional 15 years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge William Sessions III condemned Griffin’s behavior as “outrageous” during the sentencing.

As part of his punishment, Griffin is also required to pay the child $1.1 million from the sale of the Vermont home, which was sold after the charges were filed and his wife filed for divorce. Additionally, he must forfeit the Tesla used in the commission of the crime.

The victim’s adopted mother will also face eight to 20 years in prison for her role in these despicable crimes. To protect the identity of the victim, her name is being kept confidential.

Griffin had worked on CNN shows with Andrew Cuomo and John Avlon, as well as producing CNN’s “New Day.” He started at the network in 2013, according to his LinkedIn page, and had previous experience working at ABC News, Fox News, and CBS News.
